About the event

You can’t say Puerto Vallarta without saying art.  Long known for its beautiful beaches charming culture, and friendly faces, Vallarta is gaining recognition amongst artists, collectors, and enthusiasts.  On this trip we will explore the world of Mexican art with a variety of media.  Our carefully designed workshops include ceramics, acrylics, watercolor, and paper mache with the area’s finest artists. We will enjoy a private tour of El Parque de los Azulejos (The Tile Park) hosted by the founder as she explains the symbolism and hidden meaning in the beautiful designs.  Being a Kitchen Routes tour, there will  be an evening taco crawl, cooking class and chocolate workshop. Toward the end of the trip we spend the day sailing the second largest bay in the world, and end our time together with a delicious farewell dinner overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

The city abounds with galleries, street art, and music everywhere. Gallery owner Kevin Simpson tells USA Today, “Puerto Vallarta has always had a vibrant art scene, from the naif paintings that Manuel Lope sold Elizabeth Taylor back in the 1960’s to the modern mural movement.  Traditional folk art hand crafted in villages by Indigenous people has become extremely collectable, and new infrastructure, cellular technology, and access to the internet have made it easier to connect with these artists.”  With these advances comes change to their work exhibited in different materials and colors. “ Adds Kevin, these changes enable them, “to express their ancient traditions and beliefs in a way that rivals contemporary art.  It’s very exciting”.

We meet in Puerto Vallarta, home to some of the worlds most powerful vortices.  These swirling centers of energy are regarded by many as inspiring, leaving you feeling energized.  Art inspiration is everywhere and our skilled instructors will show you how to express yours in a variety of art forms, all with a Mexican flavor.  As for flavors, Mexico is full of them; tangy, zesty, and delicious.

Each day is spent overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean and ends with stunning sunsets.  This coming February never looked better.
